I don't really know what i am doing blogging but hey, first comes facebook and then comes blogs. what a great tool to network. I suppose i just want to introduce myself and my artwork, ideas and developments and see who's out there and use it as a way of documenting. I love painting and try to paint everyday at some stage, I am a part time high school art teacher and I have 2 small children so I keep very busy. Things happening at the moment that are on my mind are what happens now. I am represented in Frances Keevil Gallery at Double Bay in Sydney and she is so gorgeous, nurturing and caring about me as an artist. My work is flying out the doors at Retrospect Galleries in Jonson St Byron Bay. It is such a great space, so warm and has a huge walk in audience to view work on a daily basis. This year my work has just taken off, don't get me wrong , i have been working on it for a long time and i think this is just a great year for me.
Dec/Jan-Retrospect Galleries approached me for paintings and jewellery. I went in a group show to start
March-Solo exhibition Doggone Good Fun at Robyn Bauer Gallery Paddington Brisbane
Quest Speaker and exhibiting artist at Creative Women's Conference Gold Coast
April- Selected for Melbourne Art Fair Artist Studio- basically a sell out show. totally awesome
June -Solo exhibition "Jocular" 19 Karen contemporary Artspace Mermaid Beach Gold Coast
July- Curvy Booklaunch - Female exhibition at Ninelives Fortitude Valley Bris
Feminine Subconscious Female exhibition at Retrospect Galleries Byron Bay with an Artist Talk. That was great and interesting to do.
Well that was probably the easiest way to tell you what i have been doing. It has been amazing and I am so happy to see my work pop up this year in the Courier Mail, Gold Coast Bulletin, Realliving Magazine and blogs . so i thought it was about time i get on here and start doing this. Hope i haven't bored you to tears in my first blog. hope you come back and have a look at some sketches, development and bits and pieces that i post up on this. thanks for your time. cheers fiona
I did the maggies for the Lightmares residency project. I love the warbling of these amazing birds, it makes me feel at home and sounds corny but very Australian. However, my childhood memories are of them attacking me on my bike and me having to wear an ice-cream container on my head!!! I think every Aussie has a maggie story.
